Aloe Vera is known for its healing properties that can be used to get rid of stretch marks in addition to taking care of other skin problems. The best aloe vera to use is the aloe gel obtained fresh from the leaf, instead of buying one from the store.
You will need an aloe vera leaf, remove the thorns and the outer skin from the leaf and then squeeze to obtain the gel. Apply the gel directly on the marks, leave it for a few minutes and then rinse with clean water. For better results, use it consistently every day for a month.
Potato juice has vitamins and minerals that help in the growth and restoration of the cells. It contains phytochemicals, such as polyphenols and carotenoids, as well as essential fatty acids. It can stimulate collagen and synthesis of elastin enabling restoring of skin cells. This makes it one of the cheap and good home remedies in dealing with stretch marks because it can restore skin cells.
To use it, cut a potato in thick medium sized slices. Rub a slice on the stretch marks for a few minutes, ensuring that you cover all the areas. After the juice dries, wash the area with warm water.
Olive oil is known for its nutrients and anti-oxidant properties. It is also a good moisturizer and has cooling and hydrating effects. This makes it one of the best natural oils for getting rid of stretch marks.
To use, heat the oil and then apply it on the skin with stretch marks. Warming the oil helps in the circulation of blood and this reduces the appearance of these marks. Leave the oil on the skin without rinsing, so that it can also act as a moisturizer and leave your skin soft and supple. Apply the oil daily for the best results.
Castor oil is known for its remedial properties on dark spots, fine lines, pimples and moles. It should therefore not be left out when it comes to reducing the stretch marks.
To use, apply the oil by massaging in a circular motion on areas that have stretch marks. Wrap the area with a clean cloth and then apply heat using a heating pad or a bottle with hot water for about 30 minutes. You should do this on a daily basis to achieve good results.
Lemon contains acid that can be useful in getting rid of stretch marks as well as reducing other skin conditions, such as scars, acne and skin injuries. It is known to have bleaching agents with its vitamin C and alpha hydroxyl acids. These assist in removing dead skin to help the stretch marks and other marks on the skin to disappear.
To prepare, cut a lemon in half, squeeze lemon juice and then apply it by massaging on the marks for about 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can rub a piece of the lemon on the areas with stretch marks for ten minutes and allow it to soak the skin. Clean the area using warm water.
Another alternative and fast remedy is to mix lemon juice with other juices, such as potato, cucumber or tomato juice and then rub it on the area. The juices should be mixed in the ratio of 1:1.
Cocoa Shea butter
Cocoa butter has anti-aging and anti-wrinkles properties that can also be used in reducing stretch marks. It does this by enhancing blood circulation. You can make cocoa butter at home by mixing two teaspoons each of cocoa butter and shea butter and a teaspoon of vitamin E oil. Allow it to cool off to turn into a cream.
Use it by massaging the area with the stretch marks and do it at least twice a day for two months.
Egg whites contain amino acids and proteins that are beneficial in getting rid of stretch marks. They also contain vitamin A and collagen that are useful in the treatment of burns and scars.
To use, extract the whites from the eggs and then whip using a fork. Wash the area with the stretch marks and then apply the egg whites in thick layers using a brush. Leave it for about 15 minutes, allow it to dry and then wash off using cold water. To prevent the skin from drying, apply a moisturizer or olive oil on the dry skin.
Do this continuously on a daily basis for two weeks in order to see results.
Apricots scrubs have been used to remove stretch marks, however, you can make yours instead of purchasing. To make an apricot mask, cut the three apricots and remove the seeds. Crush them to obtain a paste and apply to your stretch marks. Rinse with warm water after 20 minutes. You should do this every day to obtain the best results.
Lavender, almond and chamomile oil
These natural oils are rich in vitamins and can be used in dealing with skin problems, such as stretch marks.
Mix 2 spoonful’s of almond, half a spoon of lavender and half of chamomile. Apply on the area with stretch marks and massage for half an hour. You can also apply without massaging to provide similar results, though you should apply the mixture four times in a day.
You can also use another oil in place of the almond, such as the jojoba or avocado oil.
Tea tree oil has antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties that enable it to deal with many skin problems. To use, apply the tea tree oil on the area and massage.
